The work explores an equilibrium which exists between the intellect
and the instinct. It does this through a complex narrative in which
a series of characters play out strange and bewildering scenes. The
chief protagonist is the Boy, accompanied by his avatars the Crow
– a representative of intellectual energy, a snake – an expression of
instinct and the Wolf – who seeks to reconcile these two qualities.
The Boy, a prototype Buddhist, begins his story on-board a mighty
ship, moving to the great plains
of America, onwards to the spiritual
mountain and finally to the expansive nirvana of the cosmos. The work
uses metaphysical & metaphorical language to describe this complex
and enticing journey, because it is only through the imagination that
the meaning can be found.
